" I grieve for your loss and am so sorry that Joan has died, but I am enormously glad that I had the privilege to know her, albeit for a short time, and to enjoy her sparkling company with her joyful life-enhancing spirit. I have a special memory of her kindness to us when we were staying in Ottawa for Mike's work in 2005. We enjoyed escaping to Kingston and Joan kindly invited me to join her and some of her painting friends on an expedition to the Thousand Islands was a grand day out with lots of laughter and great camaraderie.
