beauty and poetry seen everywhere... an Egyptian-inspired poem by Joan M. McGrath
Created by the McGrath family 11 years ago
Our mother saw Beauty in all, and taught us to use our "gift of the Eyes to See, with the Perception of Soul"...
She was particularly inspired with what she saw during a trip to Egypt, and came home after a Nile cruise in 1992 alive with the experience that had touched her soul. She wrote this poem, inspired by a falcon she had seen soaring in the sky...
"The Strands of Eternity"
by Joan M. McGrath
High
High
High
Wheeling lazily on broad, proud wings,
Circled
the Falcon God
of
Ancient Egypt...
There He was to greet me after my
Life Time of "Journeying - Towards" -
Through Time and Experience
to Ancient Egypt
with its Powerful Mysteries
and Stories
and Mythologies
concerning the Birth of a Magnificent Civilisation...
INCREDIBLE
STUNNING
BREATHTAKING -
He soared effortlessly in the azure sky of piercing blue
at one with the Universe: then, sweeping down the cliff face of the Ancient Temple, his Shadow kissed the timeless features of the God King
with soft, dark caress, feather-light on ancient stone,
Uniting the Past with the Present before my Wondering eyes;
Weaving the Tapestry of Life across the aeons of Time,
times of Endeavour, Visions and Hope,
Faith and Dreams -
- In one brilliant moment
joining Past with Present
with the Strands
of Eternity ...

(PS. what is even more magical and mystical in this Journey called Life is that Ilana and Tom, both international teachers, are moving to Egypt with their 3 boys in August 2013 for a new posting after having taught in Colombia, Ecuador, New Zealand, Mexico, India, Qatar and the Philippines. The job offers were accepted back in February, long before any of the momentous events of April... and yet we will be in the land where my mother was so deeply touched by this experience. Her love will be with us continually as we too all look out to that very same horizon that so captured her attention.)
