As the summer goes on, the memorial service is behind us, overseas family has come and gone, and the challenging task of sorting through Strathcona Cres. comes upon us. WE have always known what an amazing lady Joan McGrath was... but a new chapter may be opening with the surprise phone call of last week. A Queens University archivist approached our family about talking t us about possibly acquiring Fanfayr material- Joan's most recent and current way of being known in the Kingston community. As you can see by the email below, ideas have evolved (in a most delightful way, as far as our family is concerned)!!! Dear Gerald: Thank you for your e-mail, with its attachments, and thank you too for last evening. It was very informative, as are both the text of the Memorial Service and the Strathspey and BadenochHerald article. As I mentioned during our time last evening, the donation of Joan’s papers, whatever that may encompass in the end, will be known as the Joan M. McGrath fonds. Given the full and rich life she led, it is only right and proper that her name be the title. Thank you again, and I look forward to staying in touch with you. All the best Xxxxxxxxxxxxx
