"If something comes in, something has to go out..."

Letter written by dear South African friends.. "It is with great sadness that we read of Joan's passing. We were reminiscing about the two of you and we vividly recalled our first meeting in 1971 at the Raals. You had just come from a tennis match and shared with us about your time in Kampala, connecting to us, through Africa. We have always thought the two of you combined your various interests and talents and supported each other so well during your marriage! Joan and I shared many talents and interests and social activities over the past forty years. I personally will miss Joan a great deal and will cherish the watercolour she gave me at my 70th birthday lunch a couple of years ago. I was visiting Joan for tea some years ago when she showed me some treasures she brought to Kingston after her mother died. She shared, "Gerald has out his foot down and said "If something comes in, something has to go out." But, she shared," He did not stipulate where." So she duly packed up some objects in a box... and took them out... to the garage! I won't reveal the last line!! We share your sorrow at losing such a vibrant, talented and unique friend..."
