Scottish clan motto

Created by the McGrath family 11 years ago
Our mother came from Scotland, and was fiercely proud of her heritage. She was a Kerr and a MacPherson. We returned to her hometown of Kingussie, Inverness-shire in the Highlands every summer, and she continued to visit her mother, brother and friends annually even after our teenage years and summer jobs meant that we no longer travelled there. She taught us all about her family tree and shared with us her Scottish stories and memories. One amusing truth came in her family's clan motto: Late but in earnest... She certainly took that to heart, giving my father palpitations with every deadline that had to be met!! Our neighbours from the Kingston Township days fondly recalled hearing us speeding down Welborne Avenue every Sunday at approximately 10:20 a.m., saying "Oh, there go the McGraths off to church!!" It was a weekly ritual... She had the clocks in the house set 5 minutes fast to try and combat this time issue, but somehow it never quite came off!!
