Lily of the Valley and a very special new friend!

Created by the McGrath family 10 years ago
It is almost the end of our summer, as we head back overseas teaching. Naturally this summer has had a very very different feel to it, with it beginning on June 15 with Mummy's memorial service, through the lovely visits of Scottish and New Zealand family to the frenetic weeks of clearing and sorting the house, knowing that we may not be returning to it next summer... Kyla and I took time out of the home sorting to visit Jamie Brick's show called Fantasy in the Forest. I was very taken with the new location in the woods, and spent a lot of time chatting with the artists displaying their creations. I knew some of the artists from Fanfayr, but a new artist, Jaine Lamb, caught my eye and her artwork captured my heart... Because it was so whimsical and truly what Mummy would have loved. I had a long chat with Jaine, telling her all about Mummy and how she would have loved Jaine's work. I bought a piece because it reminded me so much of my mum, with its wonderful floppy big purple hat and the ferns of New Zealand (where Kyla is living and where I used to live). As I took a break from my suitcase packing this morning, I was handed a package from the mail, addressed from Jaine. The words I went on to read touched my heart and warmed my soul... Such lovely thoughts from a new friend... Read on... "Hi Ilana, First off, I hope this arrives before you leave for overseas! I should have mailed it off last week, but as usual, Life got in the way!! We antiqued on the way home from the show last Monday, and in the first shop I found this pin and it just radiated you and your mum, I couldn't resist getting it for you. It just kept on telling me that it was meant for you, so here it is. I hope you love it as much as I did when I saw it. Lily of the valley is also one of my favourite flowers. So please enjoy and remember your mum. I am sure that she is very close to you all the time and also part of her stays with me now. Take care...
